Frequently Asked Questions About Online Thearpy in Texas, Illinois and Colorado
Who knew when you started googling “find a therapist near me” that you would’ve find so many options, and be left with SO many questions? I am here to help!
How long do therapy sessions typically last?
Therapy sessions with me are typically scheduled for 60 minutes. There are times when you and I together will decide to schedule a longer session for 90 minutes.
What happens during the first therapy session?
During the first therapy session, you can expect to answer a lot of questions. Together we will be talking about what brought you into therapy, a bit about your history, and figuring out what your goals in therapy are. My clients often say that they feel a sense of relief after their first session because they have taken the first step and know there is a plan for the future.
How often will I need to come to therapy?
I have found that meeting weekly improves client outcomes. For that reason, we will start out by setting an established time and that will be our reoccurring weekly appointment. As time progresses, we can work together to decide on the timing of appointments and space them out as appropriate.
How long will I need to come to therapy?
It is difficult to predict since there are a lot of factors that influence the length of therapy. Some clients have a list of topics they would like to discuss and once we have made it through those they choose to make appointments on an as-needed basis. Other clients like having the time set up without an agenda. They know that this is their time to focus on themselves. Therapy is designed to meet you where you are and is adjustable as we go along.
How much do sessions cost?
The cost is $150 for a 55 minute session.
Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in an insurance plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage, a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges, both orally and in writing or upon request or at the time of scheduling health care services.
Are sessions covered by my insurance?
I am currently in-network with BCBS and United Health Care in Texas. I am not in network with insurance in Illinois, Ohio, or Colorado.
I do offer a Superbill, which you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement using your Out-of-Network benefits.
What is your availability?
I am currently accepting new clients and make it a priority to reply to new client contacts within 24 hours. At that point, we will set up a time for a free 15 minute consultation to make sure that I’m a good fit for what you have going on. At this time, I am able to schedule first sessions within 7-10 days. My working hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00 am-2:00 pm.
Where do sessions take place?
Currently, all therapy sessions are virtual. I offer a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform for telehealth sessions.
What if I need to cancel our appointment or I get sick?
The more notice you can provide me, the better, but I understand that life happens. I do have a strict 24-hour cancellation policy, so if you need to cancel for any reason, please give 24 hours notice to avoid paying the late cancellation fee, which is $30 and will automatically be charged at midnight of the missed session.
Who do you work with?
My clients are typically women navigating the journey to motherhood. Infertility, pregnancy, pregnancy loss and the adjustment to motherhood are all life events that cause anxiety, depression, anger, guilt, shame and trauma. Utilizing therapy approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy as well as mindfulness and journaling, my clients report feeling validated in their feelings, having strategies and tools to use in the future and less anxiety and depression in their lives.
I also work with individuals with anxiety and depression, not just women and new moms. Anxiety and/or depression affects people of all ages and stages in life. If you are experiencing symptoms of anxiety and/or depression and it is affecting your day-to-day life, please contact me. If I’m not the best fit for you, I’m happy to help find you a therapist that is!
What if therapy isn't working?
If therapy isn’t working for you we will talk about it. If the solution is to find a therapist that is a better fit for you, then I will do everything I can to help you find that person and get you transferred to their practice.
I’m ready to get started, what do I do now?
I know it can feel like a big step to call a therapist, but I’ll make it easy. We’ll spend 15-minutes on the phone and I’ll let you know how or if I can help. If I am not the right person, I’ll do my best to get you to the right person.
